Marseille, Meeting de la Méditerranée, Golden Tour Camille Muffat

As some of you may have learned from the media, which have reported a few snippets of news, last weekend (Friday to Sunday) I participated in Marseille at the Meeting de la Méditerranée, the second and final stage of the Golden Tour Camille Muffat that, like every year, attracts many swimmers of international level. The participation in this event represented a test in view of the European Championship, scheduled in Budapest in the second half of May, the first and only real goal of this first part of my season in long course, waiting to turn all the attentions and efforts towards the ultimate goal: the Tokyo Olympics 2021. So I arrived in Marseille with a heavy training load, without any tapering and without expecting any particular chronometric results; in addition, I participated in 6 different races, which led me to get in the pool to compete 11 times in 3 days. In fact, the results were more than satisfactory and beyond everyone's expectations, as I reached gold twice (50 and 100 butterfly), as well as 2 other A finals and a B final. In particular I would like to mention: the times of the 100 butterfly, 51.76 in the qualifications and 51.89 in the final, where I managed to touch the plate ahead of Mehdy Metella; the unexpected Swiss record in the 50 dolphin (23. 39), which allowed me to win a race in which Nyls Korstanje (best chrono in the world this season) and Florent Manaudou were present; besides the more than discreet performances in the 200 mixed and in the 200 freestyle, I would finally like to point out the 400 freestyle, in which I improved my personal best twice, bringing it from 3.55.70 to 3.51.47 and touching the podium by a whisker.
Now,, we will continue to work hard, without stopping, passing through the Swiss Championships in Uster at the beginning of April, for which we will not decrease the heavy training load, considering them a simple step in my preparation, without any anxiety of having to obtain particular results.
