PHOTO OF THE MONTH
Tenero, National Sports Center, September 30, 2021: It's home here, too...
Dear friends, I imagine that you have already had the opportunity to follow my races at the recent European swimming championships. In this short report, I will try not to bore you with too many details about it. First and foremost, I would like to thank my coaches and all my staff, for making me arrive in Budapest in a very good shape, which allowed me to get the two finals in the individual races, to set very good times, especially in the 200 butterfly (where I lowered the Swiss record twice), and to give an important contribution in the relays. On the other hand, I cannot hide the fact that the number of relays in which I had to participate was objectively too high to allow me to express my full potential in my individual races, especially in the 100 butterfly, which took place at the end of the championship. Nevertheless, I am satisfied with my performance and I look forward to future commitments with confidence, in the belief that the heads of Swiss aquatics swimming will draw the right conclusions from the experience of Budapest, finding in the future the right balance between the needs and objectives of the team and the individual goals of each swimmer. For my part, I will try to get the maximum benefit from this beautiful and important experience, continuing to train intensively and do everything possible to further improve and to continue to represent Switzerland (and Ticino) in these important international competitions, which I missed so much in this long year of pandemic. Next commitments abroad: the Sette Colli International Trophy in Rome at the end of June and, of course, the Olympics in the last week of July!
Greetings to all!
