Swiss long course Championships, Uster, 4 / 7 april 2024

The Swiss long-course championships in Uster have also concluded. As decided at the beginning of the 23/24 season, on the road to Paris 2024, I would have prepared well for two key events: the European short-course championships in December 23 in Otopeni-Bucharest (which ended as well as one could hope) and the Swiss championships in Uster in early April. My aim was to translate the work geared towards these two events into notable international performances... We've already spoken extensively about the great satisfactions from Bucharest... But the results from Uster speak for themselves: Swiss records and the best seasonal world performances in the 50 and 100 butterfly (sixth of all time in both distances), the fourth-best seasonal world performance in the 200 butterfly, with my third best time ever, close to the Swiss record and back under 1:55 after almost two years. I can (and must) do even better, but with three and a half months until the Olympics, it's certainly an encouraging outcome that motivates me to continue training at my best. However, there's no room for complacency: as always stated, these championships were "just" a stepping stone towards the real goal of the year... It certainly won't be easy, and I won't be the only one reaching these levels in Paris: my opponents will be different, strong, and just as hungry for success. On my part, along with my team, I will do everything possible to arrive prepared, aware of my capabilities, but without underestimating my competitors.
